Performance
Performing since 1979, the Pros Arts Ensemble presents its shows in English, Spanish, Italian, and Clown, and has performed in theaters, libraries, classrooms, and playgrounds, on Main Street in rural Illinois and on the street corners in the barrio.  Pros Arts Studio is on the Illinois Arts Council’s ArtsTour roster.  Programs include:

Shows for School Audiences: “Travelin Trash: Adventures of the Ol’ Chip Bag and M.T. Juice Bottle”, “Fairly Nutritious Tales”, “Measuring Mania” and “Trashy Tales with the Litter Bugs” are shows that humorously address topical issues for school audiences.

Festivals:  Pros Payasos/Clown Ensemble presents its “El Circo Mas Grande del Barrio”  (The Greatest Circus in the Hood) a series of circus vignettes turned on edge for all ages and occasions.

Latin American Folktales: “Martina y Perez”, “Chac the Rain God”, Borreguita y Coyote” and other shows are adapted from children’s stories found in local libraries.

Commedia dell’Arte:  Original shows based on traditional scenarios from the Commedia dell’Arte with half-masks, costumes, and scenery – “Pulcinella, Physician by Force”, “Mastered by Two Servants”, and walk arounds.

TV Pros: Since 1990 Pros Arts has presented a live, one hour, interactive children’s show on Chicago’s Cable Access Network(CAN TV) channel 21. Children are invited to read aloud over the air, to voice opinions and ask questions, and create simple projects from accessible materials found at home. They meet the Couch Potatoes, Nice Kitten and Ratty G. Looking, Mr Toad and Mr Frog, all original puppets, or sail the stormy seas with Gnarly the Pirate, channel Mother Earth with Ursula Ooops, or cook with Chef Boy RT.
TV Pros is cablecast live every other M
onday 4:30 – 5:30 on Channel 21 from October – June.
